Justicia stumbled upon yoga quite accidentally, and certainly had no idea how prominent it would become in her life. Yoga was initially very hard for her; plank pose was tiring, and Chattaranga Dandasana (low plank) completely impossible. She vividly remembers the first class where that pose happened for her, where she actually hovered above the ground without her belly collapsing to the floor. It surprised and inspired her, and she remembers thinking specifically: ‘maybe if I keep up at this I’ll be able to do headstand someday too.’

Hundreds (thousands?) of headstands later, Justicia remains a devoted student, and knows that her personal practice informs her teaching. She believes yoga to be her dharma, her path. It woke her up from a life fraught with escapist coping mechanisms, and ultimately taught her something infinitely more valuable than how to balance on her head: that she was worthy and capable of self-love.

Her focus is on sharing the joy of radical self acceptance and self love with her students. Drawing from numerous traditions, including the Astanga, Baptiste, Anusara, and Jivamukti lineages, Justicia’s classes integrate alignment, movement and breath in a playful yet disciplined manner. With over 500 hours of study, she is certified with the national Yoga Alliance, and in 2007 happily achieved AcroYoga certification as well. She offers classes, private sessions, workshops, and aerial performance.
